Gofruita.com offers potential tourists a one-stop shop of Fruita
The City of Fruita launched its tourism website, wwwgofruita.com, several years ago, but a new upcoming feature of the site could take promoting tourism for the town to the next level. An online hotel booking feature will be added to the site in March.
Gofruita.com features information on local lodging, eateries, activities, events, history, and more. The site also has photos and video which promote the scenic beauty and diversity of the town. Users can find all of the information they need to plan a trip to Fruita in one place.
“Gofruita.com is specifically for tourism purposes,” said Odette Phelps, City of Fruita Human Resources manager. “We’ve been online for a few years and we are continuing to enhance (the site) and make it more user friendly for tourists and people wanting to visit Fruita.”
After Senior Account Executive Eric Mellow of Cobb and Associates, went to a conference in Steamboat Springs, he approached the City of Fruita with the hotel booking feature idea. The Fruita Tourism Advisory Council approved the idea and is hoping to launch the new feature this March.
“This will work out great because our busy season, especially for mountain bikers, is in the spring and fall. We are hoping that the timing will be perfect,” Phelps said.
The website will also become available as a mobile application in upcoming months.
