Community Center’s Ladies’ Night goes pink
Special to the Fruita Times
Local women of all ages are invited to the Fruita Community Center Ladies’ Night March 12 at 5:30 p.m. Along with a chance to socialize and meet other women, those in attendance will hear a presentation about breast cancer from Dr. Rebecca Glasser, MD, of Family Health West. This will be the fourth of five Ladies’ Nights this year. The final event is April 9.
Glasser was born and raised in Chapel Hill, N.C. For her general surgery training, she attended the University of Florida in Gainesville. She trained a year at UF in Jacksonville in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and then went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to complete her plastic surgery training.
She is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Due to her passion for helping patients with breast cancer, in 2004 she became involved with The Donna Foundation, an organization dedicated to assisting breast cancer patients with the financial strain of health costs. She served on the Board of Directors and hosted “An Evening on the Pink Carpet” for three years where 20 of her breast cancer patients were the models in a fashion show to raise money for the Foundation.
“I decided to move to Colorado after spending several vacations with friends here,” said Dr. Glasser.
